YIN YOGA AND GONG BATH
Sunday 1st September
10am - 1pm
at THE YOGA STUDIOS, Poole
Take this opportunity to experience two ancient healing practices in one three hour workshop. Let yourself go deeper into your body and be immersed into sound vibrations.
Enjoy a 2 hour-long Yin Yoga practice that spends up to five delicious minutes with every pose. Breathe with awareness, relax your body and take time to sink into opening with each asana.
You will discover how to start connecting directly to your energy and to start dwelling in peace. There will be some music, stories and philosophical quotes to help you stay focused in the poses.
Our aim is to inspire you to start taking time for yourself to be in stillness, returning to the source. Yin style of yoga complements perfectly more dynamic and rigorous styles of yoga and all yin postures are designed to balance, calm, recharge and repair the body. Through the prolonged holds the body will grow more supple. Regular practice will free the body to move effortlessly and with grace and ease. Supported by props, bolsters, blocks and blankets, Yin poses will allow your entire body to stretch gently and release physical and mental blockages.
The workshop will start with a brief introduction to the origins of Yin yoga, why everyone should practice it and how to get the most out of it. I will introduce the benefits from the point of view of Eastern traditions as well as based on recent Western scientific research. In this section comments and questions are welcome. We’ll discover how Yin practice will benefit your whole being physically, mentally, energetically, emotionally and spiritually. How to practice yin yoga is the subject of the final introductory section. This will include suggestion how to deal with the obstacles that arise.
The practice will calm you down immensely and leave you feeling grounded and centered in your body.
Mirja is your guide through Yin Yoga practice.
A gong bath is a deeply relaxing experience allowing the mind and body to relax and re-charge. The sounds of the gongs “wash” over the body, “bathing” you in soothing sounds and vibrations , leaving you feeling refreshed and relaxed. There is no water involved and you remain fully clothed for the experience. There is no movement or exercise for yourself, you just lie back and relax!
Gongs have been used for thousands of years by ancient civilisations. The sounds and vibrations ‘bathe’ the body, releasing blockages and allowing energy to flow freely.
Gong Baths can help with numerous issues such as tension, stress. Sound can penetrate where other therapies can’t, making people feel relaxed and re-energised.
Lara Cockayne is your gong therapist who is taking you through the experience of a sound bath. Just stay open to the sound and allow the vibrations penetrate into your whole being. It's magical!
